Junior Tennis

We have a busy Junior section. The Club aims to allow juniors as much
court time as possible. Squads are held every weekday during term time from
3pm onwards for all ages and abilities.

Juniors also have the use of all six courts on Saturday mornings for coaching,
matches and social play. They are welcome to use the courts at any other time
except club sessions. Timings of court allocation can be found here.

There are plenty of opportunities for competitive tennis both within the Aegon league
and internally within the Club. We hold regular internal tournaments, including the Club
Championships, with the finals being held on the same day as the Adult section, thus
creating an exciting and inspiring environment for our Juniors.

Tennis camps are held during the school holidays.

The fundamentals of our junior success are our three coaches, Roy, Simon
and Andrea, the enthusiasm of the kids themselves, and great support
from their parents. However, the underlying philosophy of the Junior section
is to give our children a good grounding in tennis, so that wherever
in the world they end up living, they can join a local tennis club with
confidence – thus enjoying the lifelong benefits that playing tennis can give you.

Free Sunday Morning Junior Coaching Sessions

This year is the 50th Golden Anniversary of Chorleywood Lawn Tennis Club.

We are organising various events to celebrate this special year and the development of our Juniors has always been of paramount importance to the Club. Although tennis is an individual sport the development of our young tennis playing members start from being coached as part of a squad. Our aim is to teach them good tennis skills and discipline and make tennis a fun sport that they can practice with their peers. The Sunday coaching will be supplementing the existing squad coaching the juniors are already having with their coach.

We are running a series of 10, 1 hour Sunday morning coaching sessions with Simon Bowler starting on Sunday March 26th.

On each Sunday morning there will be 2 sessions split into two age groups:

10am - 11am - 9 & under

11am – 12pm - 10 & over.

We recognise that tennis is a sport where development occurs differently in each child and Simon will be the final arbiter of the group in which each junior should be coached.

Dates of the 10 sessions:

26th March
2nd April
9th April
23rd April
7th May
14th May
21st May
28th May
4th June
11th June

Miwa Wathew, our Junior Secretary is organising these coaching events with Simon Bowler. Booking is essential and numbers are limited.   You can sign up in the clubhouse or email Miwa on Please put the name of the junior and also Indicate which dates your child is free to attend.

Our Chorleywood Team played brilliantly on Sunday 19th March in the Aegon U14 finals and did the club proud.

They did not win the Trophy in the end but did win the Consolation Plate Final.

All the other clubs participating were large clubs and/or performance centers so for our boys to win the Consolation Plate Final was a great achievement.

Many congratulations to our team players -

Callum Scott
Alex Leitch
Marcus Wathew

More Success For The CLTC Green Team

Our junior Chorleywood Green team won their Aegon plate semi final this Sunday morning March 5th and will be off to finals day on the 19th of March.

The team played really well on the day and was supported by their lovely coach Andi.

16-4 was the winning score so a good win played in a determined manner.

Even the rain stayed away - couldn't ask for more!

Team players were:
Youka Togashi
Alex Leitch
Marcus Wathew
Callum Scott

Wishing them another successful day on the 19th.
